BANGKIT is an art collective formed in 2006 by a group of 5 people; young designers from various background and company all over Malaysia. Bangkit are a team of digital art lover and always produce digital artworks to be displayed and sold on art events.

.Bangkit came out with an idea to sell our artworks in a form of a t-shirt since t-shirts have larger interests in the public. Since then Bangkit have oversold more than thousands of our t-shirts on events that Bangkit participate. The audience then grew larger by the help of myspace, and now Bangkit have been covered in UTOPIA, JUNK magazine, KLUE magazine and came out twice on TV3.

.Bangkit also sponsored tshirt n backdrops for ‘KAMI TV Series’ which was telecasted by 8tv and ‘KAMI The Movie’.

So that’s a little bit brief about Bangkit, so let see our interview with them yo!

Welcome to REEZLUV. com. Please introduce yourself, give us a brief bio, tell us where you’re from, and how you got started in the field.
Bangkit ni start since 2006. ada yg study from Politeknik JB, ada yg MMU, UKM and UiTM. Acctually awal2 start Bangkit adalah dari Shook dan Pak Tua masa kat Politeknik JB (back 2006). And it start as a hobby. Memula tu bangkit ni target die nak buat collective art magazine. Kebetulan, kawan si shook yg nama die fariz (masa tu masih study di MMU) pon berminat nak buat bangkit ni. So, dgn bertiga start la bangkit ni. Memula tu buat mcm forum kat Fariz punye personal website. Forum tu just review artwork2 designer yg power, pastu diskas sikit2 pasal design ngan kawan2. disbbkan mase tu semua semakin bizi, forum t u pon ditinggalkan.

Lepas tu, paktua wujudkan satu group page kat myspace under nama bangkit. Group ni banyak diskas pasal art, kongsi2 design etc & group ni memang open sbb sape2 pon leh post design & boleh komen design yg telah dipost. Ade tutorial, ade competition etc… group ni agak mendapat sambutan yg hebat. Acctually waktu awalan ramai team Bangkit ni. pastu skit2 ade yg start busy dgn kerja sbb semua abis study n ada yg kerja x menentu. pepaham lah bile semua jadi designer di company2.

Bangkit dijemput utk exebit utk first exerbition kat S.A.L.E art event di Galeriizu akhir tahun 2006. Mase tu la kami jumpe yanniz. Mase tu yanniz buat solo projek lagi. Kami kongsi tempat ngan yanniz & supernab. Disbbkan dua2 ni mase tu tgh solo, so kami pon culik yanniz utk join bangkit & supernab diculik oleh Eightyfourcube. waktu tu, memang takda pon sgt clothing2 mcm skrg. mostly yg buat clothing akan skali dgn installation. best!

So after bertahun2, and join pelbagai event, org dah makin kenal Bangkit. altlhough kami x lah aktif sgt bukak booth or join event, but still alhamdullilah masih ada yg menyokong kami. Dari pihak media juga ramai yg sokong. So, skrg Bangkit adalah Shook, Fariz, Yanniz, Anep n Mail. buat masa skrg kami tgh
rebranding our production utk better quality n output. insyaAllah March/april 09.

2. So why do you choose bangkit as your nick/name?
Bangkit tu actually utk motivate diri kami sendiri utk terus je bangkit tak tido2. tak kesah la dalam ape bende skali pon. Keje ke, blaja ke, semue kene bangkit. So, bangkit la, jgntdoje.

3.When it comes to inspiration everyone draws theirs from a unique area. Where do
you find yours?
inspiration.. byk tgk buku2 graphic yg mostly di beli di Basheer, website2, mtv,8tv, videoclip, youtube, persekitaran dan borak2 kosong pon kdg2 akan memberi inspirasi pd kami. oh plus, last nov kami bercuti di Bandung, and yeah membuka mata kami yg kami ini masih kerdil. their artwork, design n clothing sgt lah awesome!

4. What is the most important lesson you have learned since you started
designing? And how do you apply it to your art now?
Every design yg kita buat kena ada description dan bukan syok sndiri. itu ygkdg2 kami slalu fail. selalu syok sndiri and design without ada maksud. And do have ur own identity. Kami pon memula influence byk from designers barat, but time to time, kami cuba utk create identity. :). for brand, the branding kene lah kuat. for right now, we are in the middle of design our branding utk product, dah sebulan we still choose the best one, sbb kami tau branding itu sgt penting.

5.Any final thoughts? What would you tell other designers that hope to be as good
as you one day
iksh, we not that good *malu*. Always experiment, do research new design etc. bila org kritik, take it! org melayu kita slalu tak boleh terima kritikan.and always come with new ideas!
